Locating a Windshield

Fellow Z buffs. I was wondering where I could locate an original windshield and seal for an 81 zx coupe. The shop where the car is being worked on accidentally cracked the glass and I don't want to buy some cheap aftermarket glass. I would prefer to buy something used and oem.

Any help here?

Thanks.

Rob

Well...cruise the junkyards! Sometimes you'll find a gem of a windshield. From what I can gather, Nissan will either charge you stupid $$$ or "it's not in stock".

If THEY cracked it, send them to NISSAN! I'd be extrememly angry about that and would not pay out of my pocket or waste my own time to fix it!

The thing in New York City is that there are alot of junk yards but not an abundance of older Z parts.

I am trying to avoid an aftermarket windshield by trying to locate one for them to purchase.

I've always had that feeling when something you value is in someone's possession, you tend not to aggravate the situation by going nuts and threatening demands. Like getting a food delivery and being generous and kind with the delivery boy or the next time you may get an extra ingredient you didn't ask for with your order....

They acknowledged the mistake and are willing to make good on it.

I'll forward them a couple of dealers that sponsor Z clubs and maybe I'll luck out.

Any other suggestions?

You can try the local dealer but I would suspect he will get it from a local glass shop. Try a good local glass shop.

OR try Z cars out of AZ. They are a wrecked in yard for Z's only. However you don't know what conidtion you will get from a wreck in yard.
Good Luck on your decision.

Now, this is a situation where we need to help out our Z brother. I live in Las Vegas so we need someone closer to him to go to the local yard and get the windshield and ship it to him. I would do it but I am sure shipping would cost more than the window. So who is closer to him that would be willing to help get a windshield?
