thats an old kit... its a Ferarri Daytona GTB body kit... if you remember watching miami Vice Don Johnson drove one and soon after that thease body kits started getting popular.. the 280ZX was pretty close to the origional daytona body lines so they used it for the ferrari replica body kit...

The guy selling that car must have a drug problem... 'cause he's obviously smoking crack if he thinks anybody in their right mind would pay what he's asking for it. I'ts a pretty close rendering of the Daytona, but not a very well done conversion from what i've seen. It's just a marginally good 280zx. I see pristine/stock cars from 79-83 for sale all the time for a fraction of that price. Modification only lowers the value of the car for most purist (unless you collect kit cars I guess). Anyway, I wouldn't touch it at any price over $2000.00 .

$2000? Putting a body kit on a car does not lower the value below market value. A nicely painted stock 280ZX could bring over $2000.
That kit is installed properly and even though most may not like it, the kit costs about 5 grand. The car should be worth the price of the kit and base 280ZX at least. $7000-9000 seems fair, but the demand for that kind of car is very low. The dealer has to find just the right buyer.
The older replica of the '62 Ferrari GTO is the same price(for the kit), but those easily sell for $12-20,000 when completed. I like those kits, but not the yellow one posted earlier.
Also, the 280ZX is not a classic car and in general terms is not a collectable car. It is just a model in the middle of the Z-series. When you talk about modifying a car to lower value, I can see that on a 1970-71 240Z only. Later Z-cars not so much. Maybe in another 15-20 years the stock 280ZX will be worth something.
Icice: I'll give you $2000 for your "modified" 280ZX. After all, its not stock.

I think it is pretty cool. I can't say I have seen a Z done up like that. From a distance it really looks like a Ferrari. I am pretty impressed. Considering the time and money put into it. Like BleachZee says, you have to find the right buyer. I have seen ZX's done up like Porsche 938's. And I was impressed. Because it is almost hard to tell it just a ZX prettied up to look like a Porsche. I look at it this way. It is definately a cheaper way for an average joe to look like he has an exotic sportscar LOL!

OMG, that thing screams kit car from a mile away. It is barely recognizable as a "nice try" Ferrari, bad alignment on the deck and front bumpers/turn signals. Rough, lumpy body looks like a microwaved potato with bad paint. The ride height is wrong, even the side lines are compromised to acommodate the Z.

I dont like the fact that a Datsun was molded into a Ferrari. To me each car is unique in its own way. Its a tad hypocrytical to turn an existing beautiful car into a wanna be something else. I dont know about everyone else but I am not sure if I would feel any different if I were driving a 1981 Porche 911. To me my ZX has as much character as any other car of the era .....having said that though, once you get past your own opinions about that , it must be admitted the workmanship on this particular vehicle is as good as most custom made cars short of the ones created for the extremely rich and famous. I must say it does not look like a kit car to me. the lines are smooth and well rendered. In the pics as it shows the finish is first grade. Its a car crafted after someone's personal preferences so it simply can not cater to everyone's choices for colour or interior. Who cares if it doesn't mirror a real Daytona...while reiterating my dislike for the whole "catarpillar wanting to be a butterfly thing" I believe the purpose in this case would be to showcase both cars in one albeit the Daytona fixtures are dominating but who can mistake overall lines for anything else other then a 280ZX...Dont count me in as a wishful buyer though. I'll stick to my 280Zx 2+2 "project car" thank you.

If that kit were well done, and fit well, it might be worth a few bucks... but it looks like re-heated caca. That's why it isn't worth anywhere near what that guy is asking for it.

Damn, that things been on ebay forever and a day now. Maybe that guy should wise up. It's not that bad, a bit outta my taste range though. Definitely not something I would purchase, it doesn't even look like a Z anymore. And for that price, I could make the entire body of my car out of carbon fiber.
But hey, to each his own.
