New interior

So I am thinking this coming wed. I am going to go to Rod's custom body shop and get some stuff done to my car. I have a 280ZX 1982 metallic brown, with brown and tan interior. I wanna change everything that is tan to black. (I wanted to keep my seat but they are in horrible condition) The seats are leather with suede inserts (the suede has 280zx stitched on it)

I have no idea how much I should be spending on it, so I have come here to ask if it is a good price. I am getting the door panels dyed black and the seat recovered in black cloth with white inserts for $600? (They did get a A+ form the BBB)

Thanks again!

interior work is horribly expensive, esspecially seats. my freind owns a auto interior shop and the bill still hurts even at cost. most costly is foam for seats and labour. i built a custom radio surround, and just had it covered along with the center console lid, cost me 130 bux!! its beautiful tho, and one of a kind

Ninja, I would highly recommend any color other than black because it shows every single tiny piece of light-colored lint, dust, dirt, hair, etc. I changed Jade’s interior from gray to black (seats, carpet, and door panels) a few years ago and have regretted it ever since.

$600 to reupholster both seats is an awesome price. I was recently quoted $1,200 to have my Z31 seats reupholstered and that was in vinyl, not leather. I have decided to just buy some leather and sew my own skins, then take them to an upholstery shop to have the “Turbo” emblem embroidered so they’ll look just like the originals.

If you want quality, plush carpet for a great price (lowest I have found), call Automotive Interiors (http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/Nissan.htm). The 280ZX carpet is not shown on their website, but they were able to get it for me for about $130 (full set: front, rear, and cargo area). Just call them and ask. It is pre-cut and molded perfectly to fit the Z. The only cutting I had to do was very minor (at the top of the hump under the console and the rear floor pans where it tucks under the panels). I am about to order another set for my Z31 - just waiting for them to color-match a piece of my carpet that I recently mailed to them.

Do you have a current interior and exterior pic. of the car you want to change the color on, Fubar? I'll help you pick a color for the interior change.
