Rear interior 1/4 panel trim, Gap?

Hi, I got a 82 280ZX 2+2, and the rear quarter panel interior trim doesn't sit flush in the rear hatch area, these pictures explain what I mean. I assume they should be closer and that these are just warped over time. They aren't hitting anything, I can pull it closer and close the gap more but the trim just goes back out. Any advice besides just getting new ones (I just cleaned and painted them so it would be a waste). Thanks.

Try a heat gun (carefully) from the back to see if you can reshape the foam....

there are clips that go up there that make it sit incorrectly like that if you dont have them or didnt clip them in. you gotta slide the top in first then push in the bottom
