Exclamation T-top Leaks

My '83 2+2 t-top seals are dribbling on the seats when it rains. I've spent two days looking for "OEM" weatherstripping replacements without any success. Anyone know where to find any. I found one site that offers a kit but it's near $600. Ouch

That's the reality of it. The rubber seals for t-tops are rediculous in price. And new seals won't guarantee a leak free seal. Some still leak.
The 280ZX t-tops just aren't a good design.

So it's time to get creative. When I get something to work on sealing these up I'll post it for the rest of the Z lovers.

I just readjusted mine and spray my seals down with some silicone spray. I haven't had any problems yet. I adjusted them about a year ago. To adjust them there are shims behind where the rods go into the car itself. Pull those panels of and you will see what i am talking about.

Any special shims needed/available? I do need to replace the clips that holds the trim in place. Thanks for the info.

I took some of my shims out to make the top seal better. I will try to get a pic up, but am extremely busy trying to get tranny fixed.

Yeah, Mine leak too. When we got all of that rain last month here in Dallas, I didn't really have time between storms to do the fix right. What held me over was rubbing a little Vasoline on the rubber. It's a little messy, but it held me through the entire month of June with record rain.

It seems that my leak is where the t-top trim hangs over the seal and it's letting the rain run down. Is this wher you used the Vaseline? A temp fix is better than no fix right now.

Yep...that's where mine were leaking, but I put it all along the roofline as well just to be on the safe side.
