tail light problem

tail light problem

so 2 bulbs were out on my passenger side tail light.. replaced them, now the brake lights dont work, and the light wont turn off.. have to unplug from the harness.. signals work fine.. any ideas?

did you put in a 1157 bulb? sounds like you put in a 1156, or put the 1157 in the wrong way, go over it again, just to check.

1157 is whats in it... and they all work... except the break lights.. it wont light up when u press the breaks

Hmmm you might have the taillights, and brake lights running off each other. Like maybe crossing the wires or something like that. Are the fuses all good? Check them to make sure. I can't recall off-hand what fuse is the brake lights. Do you have the Haynes manual? Check out the wiring diagram and trace for the brake lights. And then it should tell you what fuse is for them. Oh yeah and what year and model is your Z again? It is a 280zx, but what type? GL, standard, Turbo, etc...? That sometimes makes a difference for the wiring diagrams.

Yep... check the brake switch by the brake pedal.

okay.. but thats tomorrow.. this car had a wiring nightmare from some jackass that had 3 amps and one sub
