talking computer

I have 1979 280zx 2+2. with no talking computer or no button to push to run the dianostics. I assume mine isnt the good one with all this nonsense that would make me feel cooler!

Nope '82 was the first year of the talking lady you mention. I have it in my '82, but my '81 does not have it. But you should have a button in between the speedo and tach. Every ZX cluster I have seen or posess has that check light in the middle of the cluster.

I believe the non-GL 79 models didn't have the diagnostic unit.... also didn't have power steering, power windows nor a/c.

You're not missing much w/o the voice warning & diagnostic unit.

I think you also got the good high ratio unassisted rack and pinion as well.

That means you have manual steering. No power steering pump drawing energy off the engine which means a little more horsepower at the wheels. Also, high ratio means fewer turns lock to lock so you can steer faster from one side to the next. You'll appricate that while drifting or rally racing!
