280zx info please

Hi guys I am a 240Z guy but am running some ZX parts and I would like some vary basic info. I am running a R-200 diff with 3.70s and need the speedo gear to adjust the speedo. 18 tooth. I looked up the gear ratio and it was listed on a '79ZX GL . What is a GL model . This is a new one on me and if I must do a bone yard search I would like to be crawling under the right cars . LOL Thanks Gary

A GL, or Grand Luxury model, has a rear wiper, power steering, power windows, power mirrors, etc... Basically it is a loaded 280zx, at the time of production. I own a '81, '82, and '83 280zx GL models. As for the speedo gear, I don't know much about that yet. But I am sure somebody on here, will help you out.

According to THIS INFO., the 79 280ZX 4-seater (2+2) with a 5-speed manual tranny is the same R200 in the 79 GL model, and has the same gear ratio.

The 79 GL package also included headlight washers.

the speedo gears go by color. i think that you need the tan or white colored gear.
