I was ganna get some new ones as my first project on it. But i have no idea where to shop form them, any ideas??
Furthermore if anyone has huge tips on changing them that'd be nice. =)

Welcome to ZDriver!
You can get brake pads, rotors, and MANY other parts at any of your local parts stores (I would assume you have something like Autozone / Napa / Checker / Kragen / Pepboys in Mich???).
Changing the brake pads on a 280zx is just as simple as changing brake pads on any other car.
Front: remove caliper from bracket, remove brake pads, clamp in piston, put new pads on, replace caliper, tighten down, drive happy.
Rear: same as fronts, but remember you must TURN in the piston, not just clamp it down.
FYI... While you are shopping for brake pads @ your local parts store, buy a Haynes manual for the car.

Hey man,
Whats up and welcome to Zdriver!!
Brakes are EZ to change, just like Nismo said.
You might wanna check this site out:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm
It has a lot of good info on how cars work. It will give a better understanding of what is going on under the hood.
Good luck with the car and post some pics for crying out loud!!!

I've got no BRAKES!!!
Hi everyone!
This is my first post on zdriver, and I gotta tell you I feel like a dumbass... I was going to start a string by asking the question "Where are all the used rear calipers for a 82' 280ZX Series II?" Then I read Nismo's post to Andy, and I never heard of rotating the calpier piston on rear brakes... Needless to say now I have a blown rear calpier. The problem was the outer pad.
It shot the pad out after I tried to replace the rotor, pads, and studs. I was unaware of that niffty little info on rotating the piston... So I put the studs in and put all the old crap back on. Do you think I might be able to rebuild the existing one after such a catistrofic failure? I don't have access to my Z at this time, it never made it home. I plan on pulling the caliper tomorrow to examine it.
Otherwise I need to find a replacement for this part. I have investigated all salvage yards in my area. I found only one 82 ZX Turbo. I didn't think to look to see if it was a series 1 or 2, but this calpier looked NOTHING like mine. Mine seems to be bigger, pads and all. Not by much, but the entire thing looked diffrent.
What I have is a S130 1982 280ZX Series II - Stock Non turbo, Not a 2 + 2.
5 speed manual, L28E straight 6 I think.
I have Pic's of the caliper and new pads. Sorry I can't show the car, but I'm haveing trouble locating the pic's I took of it after I painted it. I'll get some new ones soon.
Best regards
