Brakes: 280zx to 350z conversion

Hey. i recently met a man that spent a lot of money on his 350z. were talking about $32,000 on just the engine not to mention the titanium race transmission. He upgraded his brakes from the stock ones to stoptech. He gave me the old ones and i was wondering what do i have to do to put them on? If anyone knows anything i would appreciate the info.

Wow! That's probably a first for the 280ZX. I would think your first thing to do is figure out how to convert to 350Z rotors or at least get some rotors that are close to the large diameter of the 350Z. Then buy some 17" wheels for your 280zx to clear the brakes.

He is Giving me the rotors and calipers from the 350z. i know i'm gonna have to upgrade to a five bolt pattern and bigger wheels. i guess my question is is it worth it?

It will probably be major overkill unless you're actually doing some track racing.
For most of us, the factory brakes work well for hard street driving. If you want the brakes to feel even more solid, there are other ways to get them firm with just bolt-on stuff.
Stainless web brake lines all around (6 of them) and a really good brake pad; like Green Stuff.

I really have no idea what all is involved in the 5-lug swap. I have seen the S30 Z's converted to Z32 5-lug and their brakes. Those are pretty big brakes too, so it is possible. The only bad thing is the offset probably won't be correct to run 17" 350Z wheels. But maybe you can with spacers.

I was thinking about doing this, because I think the 350 wheels would look good on a 280. But I jus t haven't started research on it yet. It would be great to get more info on this.

Just wondering if you did anything with the 350z rotors and calipers. I am looking to upgrade my rotors and calipers, but I am having trouble deciding what i want to upgrade them to. I was thinking maybe a Q45 or something.
