Control Arm Bushing Installation

I have new control arm bushing set & have taken off the control arm. However after removing the old bushing the new ones don't fit without removing a metal sleave inside of the control arm. This is for a 1983 280ZX 2+2. I have tried to use a socket & a sledge hammer to no avail. I really don't want to use a hack saw. My next course of action is a machine shop to have them press the sleve out. Does anybody have any easier suggestions? Thanks

Many of us have had to do this the hard way which seems to be with a hack saw blade to weaken the old bushing enough to get it to collapse and knock out. Then clean the bores out. Good luck!

Yah, I tried (dull blade), and thought I might damage the control arm so I took it to a machine shop ($8.00 ea) to have them professionally removed. I did learn a tip when I will install the control arm back on the car before torquing it I will lower the car to the ground & then complete torquing the bolts. If I don't the control arm will position the car up & could damage the bushings. Just a tip

NAPA will press them out for 5.00 per control arm.
