Energy Suspension

Rooling through the auto parts store tonight to get a few things for my 79, I love saying that I got a 79 280 ZX hard top. and I came accross energy suspension sway bar links and bushings. So I stopped and looked at the packages, no vehicle specifics, Just the bar diameter. So I was wondering if I should replace my stock rotted to hell bushings with the Energy ones?? I've never driven or riden in a 280 ZX, so I don't know how if it is something to do or not waste my time. Let me know your opinions or thoughts, or if these even work on our beloved little beasts.

when the bushings go so does the entire car. Especially if you've still got the original bushings on there. At the least you should replace all the bad bushing with OEM replacements. Poly is better but thats up to you to decide if the few bucks are worth it or not. I say they're worth it if you plan to do more than just put to work and back. You really should look into replacing all the bushings at the same time though. I wouldn't waste your time on just the sway bar bushing though cause your car may end up handling worse then it would've cause now stuff is going to out of whack with super stiff bushings in one spot and old cracked no good bushins in another spot.

If that auto parts chain can get Energy Suspension bushings then they can get the ones you need for your car.

Change 'em... Change 'em all... Change 'em now! It's a HUGE difference for that car.

Working on it. Since I all ready had a front sway bar (stock) I cleaned it up and painted it with the white ceramic paint. Took my bushings with me to the AutoZone and bought the end links and bushings that look exactly like my old ones. So tommorow for fun I'll take the old ones off the 79 and replace with the new and improved hardware

Sorry to bring this guy back from the dead, but do the bushings squeek? Ive heard that the energy suspension ones have a tendency to squeek.

If it's rubber, or runs dry on grease... they will eventually squeek.

just the urethane bushings for both front and rear should be about $25 for the kit. If they include new endlinks then add another $20-25.

Only the 4x4 280ZX came with no rear sway bar...
