Rear struts seized.

Rear struts seized.
Well I found out why my car is so stiff in the rear and sits so high, my right rear strut is seized and the left one is on its way out too. I went and looked at some replacement struts keeping price in mind and found some Monroe's at $48 apiece. Is $100 a good price for replacing the rears?

Seized??? Usually they get really weak & move very easily. The AutoZone/Checker replacements are good for the price... especially if you get the lifetime warranty... but they're just stockers... nothing special.

http://www.importedcarparts.com has the KYB gas adjust struts for $67 each. That is what I am using.

I've seen struts and shocks sieze up many times... It's not that uncommon.
DO NOT GET THE MONROE's!
The KYB is FAR SUPERIOR and only a couple bucks more if at all. Shop around a little bit, but I'm sure you'll find the KYB's at a good price.
There is no sense in doing all that work just to put in a low grade strut.
Rod.

After doing some research and reading your posts and also talking to my friend in GA who I helped put struts on the rear of his 2+2 some time ago, I will be going with the KYB's. He also advised not getting the Monroe's as that is what we put on his ZX. He told me they do fine on the Interstate and that they are smooth and work well for "normal" driving but for carrying any kind of weight or "spirited" driving they suck pretty bad. He said that when he shifts quickly with alot of gas the *** squats pretty deep but comes right back quickly also he said that it doesn't take much weight to make the rear come down...A full tank of gas and his sub box with amp make it squat a few inches.
So the KYB's are the logical choice at just a slightly higher price but a much better strut for the money. Plus they look cleaner with the white color and all, mix that with some red Eibach springs and we have a weeeener!!
$65.88 apiece for the fronts and $44.48 apiece for the rears for the "gas adjust KYB's"
Of course there is always the Tocico strut/shock + spring set on Ebay for a decent price : )
