Rear suspension problem diagnosis..

I was driving along and hit a bump a couple days ago, and the suspension made kind of a clunking noise and when I looked back I saw that on the right side, the plastic cap that covers the top of the shock absorber assembly had been knocked off. The top of the shock absorber poked up higher and now moves up and down when the car is shaken. I've never had to work on the suspension on this car, and know next to nothing. Flipping through my manual it looks like the shock absorber mounting insulator or its rubber seat might be worn down.. does that sound like the problem?

You should probably pull the strut and take a look... takes about 5 minutes.

-Raise car & place on jack stands
-Remove tire
-Remove 3 top strut nuts
-Remove bottom strut bolt
-Remove strut
