Question Rebuilding BMC

So I've been looking everywhere for a replacement BMC for my 79 280zx and I'm wondering why there's nothing about rebuilding instead of replacing/upgrading?

Because I have yet to find a place that sells rebuild kits. Ontop of that there are quite a few M/C's that can't be rebuilt.
