Rims and Spare

Rims and Spare
I have the original rims (I think), but they're looking a little rough. I was thinking about pulling them and getting them powder coated. Also, I saw the warning about using the nuts that came with the spare, if you have aluminum rims. Since I have the spare nuts, I'm guessing mine are aluminum. Can I use a locking wheel nut with them?
Also, my spare is looking really rough. It had everything in it, including the can to inflate it. It looks like it would be useless to try though. Is there any place to get a new tire for the spare? Any other solutions for a spare?

Just use the correct lug style for any wheel, and you'll be fine... the stock aluminum wheels use flat lugs w/ washers. I would just use the stock flat lugs for the spare too, unless you are on a 1k+ mile road trip.
As for the condition of the spare, what does "looking really rough" mean? Rusted? Rotted?

The spare is a steel rim with raised lip/reverse countersunk/tapered whatever holes in it and the supplied lug nuts for this must be used or the wheel will not stay centered.
The aluminum wheels are old school "stud centric" as I call 'em, and use the shouldered lug nut to center AND secure the wheel to the hub.
As long as the locking lug nut is identical in shank diam and length, you should be ok, but the bigger question is who is gonna want to steal a set of 30 yr old 14" wheels?!!
