Wheel and tire upgrade
Hey everyone. I'm new to this site and having just got my 1st z I had a question about wheels and tires. Its a 79 Datsun 280zx and the wheels on it now are a set of 15" eagle wheels with off brand tires. i would like to change to a nicer, more aggressive style wheel and from my research thus far have found that there aren't many to choose from. I would like to know if 18x7.5 will fit and also about tire fitment on that wheel. I do not know what size tire to run. I'm trying to get the tire and wheel to fill out the wheel well and I don't know what combo will work best for that.
Any info helps

7.5 inches wide will fit front and rear with room to spare. You may notice that there are few selections because the offset is hard to find.
Modern wheels are made primarily to fit modern cars. Rear Wheel Drive cars these days are (basically) all 5-lug with +30 or 35mm offset. Your 280ZX is +0 offset and 4-lug.

You may consider a 5-lug swap for better selection of 18" wheels. Your 280ZX can fit some pretty wide wheels in back.

This tire size calculator can show you what tires to go for without changing your speedometer reading too much.

For 18x8 I went with 225/40/18 on a 280ZX.

Thanks for the insight. I found a set of wheels on thezstore.com in an 18x7.5 that i like and i am gonna try and track down a wider size for the rear. but i also had another question thats off topic. I'm looking to get a nice exhaust tone and right now I'm decentely happy with stock exhaust with the muffler cut off. Not exactly the best thing in the world but it works for now. I would like to get something a little nicer and better sounding so if you have any suggestions that would be great.
