wow screw that. i did a more dteailed search and the cheapest i found was $2200 plus the cost of tires. my car was $600 I'm not about to put 3k into wheels and tires

Uh... yeah,

If you only put an adaptor on the front or only on the back... you would totally FUBAR the wheel track. You would have two of your wheels sitting farther apart than the other two... which = no bueno.

I went 17x7 with a plus 42mm offset.

My old 17" 7 spoke wheels were 17x7 with a plus 40mm offset.

I'm thinking about going to 18's now as soon as I find one I like.

Yes, I had my adaptors made to convert from 4.0x4.5 to 4.0x100 (honda) and they are about 1.5" thick.

Well the wheels are their way, and now its time for tires. Would a 225/50-15 be good on a 15x8 wheel? I dont have much choice BTW they dont make many tire sizes for this size rim.

225/50/15 - when your speedometer reads 60 you are actually traveling 58

225/55/15 - when your speedometer reads 60 you are actually traveling 60.1

215/55/15 - when your speedometer reads 60 you are actually traveling 59.1

mmm interesting, So I guess your telling me to go with the 55 tire aspect uh? well i was just asking if 225 would be wide enough and i dont think there is a 225/55/15 tire size, I searched for it on Tirerack.com and nothing came up...

But basically i just wanted to know how 225s would look on a 8" wide rim anyone have pics?

225 is pretty narrow for an 8" rim, but not too bad. I'm running 235 on a 7" wheel...

It should be fine. 225mm is about 8.8 inches so even a 215 would still fit that width of a wheel fine. The 225 is going to have more squared edges and not curve in at all compared to the 215. I have 215 on a 7 inch width and it looks like it buldges just a little.

I was just throwing out the specs. 225/50/15 would 'look' the best in my opinion. Smaller profile but not too small. Its just a matter of how much speedometer error your want or if you're fine with a 215 width tread. The tires that read 'under' your speed are slightly smaller than stock size.

Thanks for clearing that up for me guys! Im glad to found out that 225/50/15 works well cause that was really my only choice! So they wont round off then? so the tire wall would basically be flat and level going up and down right? Or maybe if anything ill find 215s and drop them up front...Thanks again guys! BTW the tires are BFGoodrich G Force Sports rated as ultra high performance and only for summer use, which is perfect for me since it never snows here anyway.

That's where research comes in. I know a lot of people who found the "perfect" wheel only to realize too late they only had a couple choices in tires to on them and none of them were brands/sizes they liked...

I strongly recommend anyone that's considering new wheels, find out what TIRE/model/size/compound they want to run FIRST. Then get the wheel you like that fits that tire.

If it's a 'low demand' size, you're not going to have many options and the few you do have now, may vanish when the tire manufacturers decide it's cheaper to just kill it off rather than keep making a tire that very few people want to buy...

Hey Rod Questio nu said u can get the wheel adapters for about half price the other people sell them would u mind shareing ? meening i would like to buy some but the wheel spacers are only used on the front of the 280zx right ? or do u need all 4 for the front and the back ? just wondering let me know Rod ill try an take out a loan or somthing...
