280ZX NA Gas Mileage

If you have a 280zx NA, what kind of mpg are you getting? Nothing in the ol' WWW seems have a good number and I want to know if I'm getting respectable mileage or not, which is about 18mpg (mostly city).

And before somebody bitches, I searched.

I was averaging 22mpg with city and highway driving. Typically with 28 and above purely highway driving though!

When you search... are you getting answers or not reading? :-P

Same with me. Average was 21-23 with mixed driving. 27-28 while on the highway. Then I changed out the 3.9 rear for a 3.5 and got about 30mpg highway. (5-speed)

Now with my turbo Z I haven't checked the gas milage yet.

My 83' 2+2 auto had to be getting mid to high 20s. It seemed like it would go forever.

That's not exactly how to calculate your gas mileage.

Bad mileage

it seems like I get something like 18-19 city, (1981 NA) where should I look first to see what could be causing bad MPG? It's a "CA" car, meaning it has all those stupid emission standard parts, are these problematic? I was planning on at least replacing the cat, I heard maybe the mass air flow too. Freaking CA laws . . .
