280ZX resto

well heres the problem, my dads old 82' 280ZX was parked in a field and left to rot for about 13 years, its sad but true. Now im going to see if i can bring it back but i dont know where to start. havnt tried starting because im afraid i might just blow the engine so if anyone knows where i should start or if i should just start the old thing let me know.

pull the sparks plugs out, and try to turn it with a rachet, if you don't have one just hit the key and do it that way. just to make sure there isn't fluid on top of any piston. the gas is prolly not the best thing you want in the fuel system right now so I would try and drain all of it out and get some fresh gas befor starting it up. but what ever you do just try to find a rachet to turn the engine first to make sure it isn't siezed up.
the injectors are probably going to be no good, or atleast one of them might be. good luck on all the electrical plug cleaning to come, and new parts you will be buying.

as long as there is fuel in the rail there is really no reason the injectors would be bad. Without the fuel in there though they can corrode. They may be a bit varnished, but some fuel injector cleaner should take care of that.

First thing is to pull up the carpets and see if you can see the ground.

the thing I have noticed to be the worst on these cars are the frame rails up front, and the spot were the spare tire gose. It never fails, every time I see a car that has been sitting out of comision in a field these places are always rusted prety bad.

I would also check the front strut towers where they weld to the unibody.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, With my first Z I didn't have to because the carpet had already rotted away at that point, just imagine the condition of the floor boards, I used some wall paneling and I drove it like that for nearly a year!

Edit: My first Z is the gold Z in my sig.
