79 280zx clutch or what???help

I would say yes from my experience with totally annihilated clutch discs. Take off the inspection cover on the bell housing and look in there and run your fingers in there, smell for burnt clutch and look for dust.

I would think the issues above would not allow him to go into gear at all without grinding the hell out of it, and if he did the car would want to move. Seems like it will go into gear but not move.

so i opened the slave cylinder and opened the reservoir and started pumpin...fluid was present...but nothing...is my clutch master cylinder to blame or the slave or is it good routine to just replace them both

What does "but nothing" mean? As in the slave isn't moving?
Bleed the system. 15 year old fluid needs to be replaced anyway.....

The hydraulic system is there to put pressure on the pressure plate and disengage the clutch, granted I would replace and bleed the system if necessary since its been 15 years or whatever, but it wont help you move the car. If you had issues getting it in gear then I would say its the hyd system. UNLESS the slave is stuck in the release position! or something

i replaced the slave and master and presto it moves...next.after running for like 5 min at idle .idles fine i push the gas and i hear popping comming from the air flow meter..its actually moving and sputtering. plugs were also changed..where can i get a air flow meter..is this a common issue
