Bad Door Hinge

The lower driver's side door hinge (with the cam and spring) seems to be bad on my Z. When it hits the second "notch" it makes a loud snapping sound (very embarassing). Before I replace it, I wanted to ask if anyone knows a way to fix it? Or did it just get old and die? I tried lubing it, but that didn't seem to help.

Thanks,
Gen

I usually put grease right on the wavy contact arm. I believe that is the part that snaps. Don't use a thin oil like WD-40.

Thanks everyone! That "ghetto" method sounds like exactly what I need. Checked on the part and its $80. Yikes! Junkyard ones are probably as bad as mine, too!

I think the greaser method is easier than the ghetto method....

I tried grease,wd, anything to lube it. Problem was it was wore out and nothing would stop the loud pop except replacing the hinge. So when it finally broke it made no more pop, only draw back is door will not stay open on its own......
