Clutch Replacement = Engine Problem?

I finished my clutch replacement today and now my car is running like crap. Would turning the flywheel cause the timing to get thrown off? Any suggestions at what might be wrong? I didn't do anything engine related, just put in a new clutch and got the flywheel resurfaced.

Check your vacuum lines and wires near the firewall. You might have snagged one when you removed the trnny bolts.

I checked the vacuum lines already. I'll look again this afternoon when I get a chance. Could it be anything else though? Thanks for the help.

Just a thought, did you put the pressure plate in the right direction. if you put it in 180 you could have issues. As for motor issues i dont know but it is something to think about.
Did it run like crap as soon as you started it, or did you drive it then it started to run crappy. The reason i ask is if you had a bad clutch then put in a new one you could have strechted your timing chain.

Hope any of this helps

So the new clutch engages harder so it streched the timing chain?

Are you sure your wife didn't put a '93 Honda Civic timing belt on your Z?

When I try to start it the car wont idle and then stalls. If I constantly rev it I can keep it running but after I let off the gas it stalls. Also, when I start driving it sputters and backfires a couple times and then drives fine as long as I keep the RPMs up. Im pretty sure this has nothing to do with the clutch replacement, its just a coincidence. I replaced almost all the vacuum lines today and that didn't help so I don't know what it could be. Any other suggestions?

get a timing light anc check the timing...
ive had trouble like that...my timing was off...but due to a chewed up crank seal that broke and got jammed in the dizzy gear and jumped a few teeth...ran like crap..sputtered, wouldnt go at all unless i kept on the gas, backfire too ...same stuff..

Nope, not that. Could it be the FPR perhaps? Just a guess.

Yes, I checked the timing and it is fine. The car ran perfectly fine before the clutch replacement. Thanks for the help, any other ideas?

The reason i said that is because I bent my distributor by dumping the clutch after installing a new clutch. I had been driving the car hard before the replacment with no trouble but as soon as i replaced the clutch i bent the ditributor. If it was weak and working because the clutch would slip a little. The car ran Ok at higher RPM,s but otherwise it ran like crap. I replaced the dist. and all is well.

Well, I checked the AFM boot again (more closely this time) and it actually had slipped off at the bottom. That was the problem and now all is well. Thank you very much Ice for the suggestion and thanks to everyone else for your help.

dang, I was still betting on the Honda Civic timing belt. Write that one down Skully for when you can't start your Turbo engine. Check for belt....

...also, keep all snow out of oil pan. I gotta keep all this good info in my head for you to suck up.
