You can pull them right off after the large bolt is removed.

I had a sore *** and a bruise on my chest when I was too lazy to go get a puller for my pulley I just yanked on that sucker until it popped off and smacked me in the chest and layed me on my ***. I had to lay there for a while catching my breath. It can be done but I'd recommed a puller from personal experience

I've pulled about 4 of those not knowing that there was such a thing as a 'puller' for them. I've never been hurt... just think about what you're doing. Like pulling a steering wheel by hand.

The next time I pull a front crank pully, I'm going to throw it over to Arizona and hit you in the back of the head

i suppose this is what i will do, i'll go ahead and focus on getting the nut off. after that i'll give the pulley a try and if i have no luck then i'll go rent a puller from autozone. anyone know the size of the nut? im not so good at telling sizes, that and what size puller would i need? thanks again bleach for the advice and knowledge you gave me a few weeks ago. . im guessing that i sound like quite the noob but, this is the deepest in any motor that i've ever been and im really enjoying this learning experience. in case you guys were wondering, i had bought the car with a blown head gasket and it sat for a long time while i drove my gold z, eventhough this '79 is in much better condition. anyways the previous owner had started the work but, didn't get far, one of the things he did do though was pull the cam gear, and let the tensioner suck up the slack so now i get the priveledge of fixing his mistake.

I got a small hammer and tapped on the back edge of the pully. A little on each side back and forth. After a while it'll start to move. Once it starts moving, it'll come off pretty easy. Spray a little WD40 on the crankshaft to help it along.

ya, you're going to be into this engine deep...
