stock 240 or the 280 in a turbo application? of coarse the ZX tranny T5 or not, its 5 gears... lol, or you could have 4 but w/e. no one wants teh stock 4 speed transmissions anymore, if i am lucky i can probably sell mine for liek 50 dollars.

Oh wow, conflicting information from your site and zgarage! I guess we'll just have to at least swap the engines and see what happens with the trannys

hmm yea didn't think about the 240z only being a 4-speed...

Most places I read said that the T5 was only available in the 83 model... hmm

Although I did just look up on wikipedia and it shows that the 82 and 83 both had the T5...

so what do we have to do? Do you know if the driveshaft will actually fit despite what is said on the swap guides, or is there a way to get by without having to modify or create a custom driveshaft?

Just look under the car @ the tranny & you will be able to tell if you have a BW T5... the case has a lot more webbing than the n/a:

Is there any other way to tell? What does the other tranny's webbing look like so we can compare and see if it has more webbing

Non-turbo tranny:

You can also tell by the shifter mount... the T5 has a rectangular mount.

do you have a picture of the bellhousing for the T5? From those pics and looking where the engine and tranny meet, it looks like we have the regular tranny...

so hard to tell by just peeking under the car... I'll jack it up tomorrow and get a better look...

One more quick question since I just finished having my Intake Manifold ported and am adding the 240sx throttle body...

On the TPS that I have for the 240sx, the harness for the red/white/black wires have been cut... it has the spot for the 280 harness to plug in, but then there are 3 wires coming off the side... Don't see those on the stock TPS... Assuming you have Power and Ground, but what's the white wire go to?

Got another question... Is there some secret to getting the intake manifold off? I removed everything off the top of the manifold, the 4-5 bolts on the top, and the thing still won't budge. Looking at the intake manifold I ported and am ready to put on, there are no other bolts holding the manifold old, but it still won't budge... any help?

socket with a u-joint and long extension. You can't get onto the nuts/bolts under the manifold straight on. Its difficult.

yeah when you remove the intake you have to remove the exhaust minus maybe 1 or 3 bolts... and there should only be 3 bolts on the top side of the intake manifold... and taking them off is easy, its trying to get the bolts back into the block between the intake mani exhaust and turbo thats a challange....

haha... idk if its really sticky oriented, but its a very good thread to read and learn about Z31 ECU swap and other fun junk. lol, im hoping to make my first stiky though once im out of school, it will be on how to turn an NA to turbo engine, then even though there are write ups on other sites but not this one, im gonna make one for the s30 turbo swap that way Zdriver can be put on the map for 2 very popular searches.... but only when im out of school cuase im to damn lazy to type that all up now.

EDIT: no what, lemme restate that, this would make a decent sticky, but most of this has been covered some in other stickies. thats why idk if this could be made one, mabye though... my things would be good write ups... i kinda mixed the 2 together lol.
