Number one wire is the post facing the towards the center of the motor. if you look at the cap from the drivers side, find the front clip to the distributor, The one easiest to get to. #1 is the first post right if that. Then just run them 123456 from there. Like 1-1, 2-5, 3-3 and so on.

1-1, 2-5...
He means that the first wire is the #1 cylinders, the second one after the #1 is the #5 cylinder and so on. This is going in a Counter-clockwise direction too. The cap usually has a faint 1 next to the wire hole, it's adjacent to the screw closest to the radiator when you install it.
