Free RB20

I have the oppurtunity to go get a free RB20, the thing is, it is just the block and nothing else. I would go get it anyways but its about a 4hour drive. So do guys think it is worth the drive just for a block? What would I even do with it, And say I wanted to eventually build this motor up where would I get the parts?

I apreciate the help

I'd check out any "free" engine & see if it's worth it... especially any Nissan engine. You could always use it for a trade later on.

I agree. I'd probably pass on that deal. Unless you happen to find a free head and everything else to go with it...

DONT DO IT! Not for the block. You can buy an entire front clip from an R32 GTS for around $1500 or you can pick up a complete RB20 with everything needed for around $900. And most of the time they come with start up warranties on the block, head and transmission. To try to source all the parts you'll need individually would cost you an insane amount of money, so you'd probaly end up just buying a complete engine or clip anyways. If you plan on buying a complete engine anyways, then go ahead and go for it. Atleast you'll have a spare block. Clean it up, coat it with some WD-40 and wrap that sucker in plastic. That way if you ever do manage to blow your RB then you wont have to buy a whole nother engine. Plus the RB20 block is the same as the RB25 and just needs to be bored. So you can get yourself an RB25 and keep that block as a back up to that too. But if you just plan on building up THAT block, then dont' do it, not worth it.
