Exclamation fuel pump UUUGH

new injectors, new fuel pressure regulator, both relays replaced, new fuel pump and still it only comes on when it wants. sometimes you can turn the key and hear the fuel pump other times it won't come on. not sure what to do next??? if the fuel pump comes on i may strike a match. it is a 1983 280zx with a turbo. 72000 original miles but sat for years.

Is your car run?
If you don't hear the fuel pump some times that means your system has enough pressure.

check your battery and cables. loose and or corroded terminals can cause intermittent problems. borini is wrong there is no pressure switch to cause the pump not to run. there is a time delay for the pump to run short time when the key is in the ignition position before going to start position. once started the pump should run continuously. also you could have a bad ignition switch. hot wire the pump and see if it runs

Checked all connections everything looks good. I know it is a power problem. You can turn the key and sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesn't.

Check the wiring under the column, pull the plug on the ignition switch and jump the ignition wire a few times, I'm betting its the switch, or you have a short. Also don't forget to check the connections at the fuel pump and try disconnecting and reconnecting the ECU.
