fuel rail questions...
hey guys, how's it goin?
well, i've decided i'm tired of the mess on top of my intake manifold and have decided to clean it up a bit. In doing so, I'm looking at a fuel rail from pallnet, and have become confused as to what exactly I need for my 1980 280zx 2+2. First, do I need an O-Ring rail or a Barbed style rail? And second do I need a -6 smooth stock a -8 smooth stock or a -10 smooth stock and what do these numbers symbolize? Mind you I intend on using the stock injectors. Thanks for your assistance guys!

Did you check out his page? http://www.freewebs.com/pallnet/products.htm
The 6, 8, & 10 are the bores. 10 is the largest (flows more fuel). You want the barb'd (non o-ring) type if you are using the stock barb'd injectors.

Yeah NismoPick, thats where I intend on getting the fuel rail from. Would there be any noticeable gain in power if I go with a larger bore on the fuel rail without upgrading the injectors? Or would it just affect my gas mileage?

You'll be fine with the stock bore rail. A larger bore will not give you hp, nor will bigger injectors. You need to address the intake and exhaust side first. The stock injectors will flow enough to support basic bolt ons and even a mild cam. Gas mileage will not be affected by the change in fuel rail.
The - in the numbers is referring to the AN fitting size.

Heh, PurePontiacKid yeah I could do that, But I'm aiming for a real sleek clean look. And I figure with a Pallnet fuel rail I'll have the fuel pressure gauge, which is something I don't have with the stock rail.

alright. so i am getting ready to order the fuel rail today. finally got some dough in my pocket to throw on this lady. i also want to pick up the Q45 t/b from Pallnet, but i'm not sure thats the one i need. I looked on ebay, only found t/b's for the SR20DET and am not sure if that will work with my NA motor. any insight would be great

The Q45 TB is OVERKILL and it doesn't fit on the L-Series intake w/o machine work. The rest of your intake tubing & runners would still be a bottle neck anyway. That's why people use the KA24 / SR20 60mm TB (which you still need an adapter... or convert to cable throttle).

ah ok understandable. I was reading about Q45 swaps on here after I saw the t/b on pallnet. so does it matter if the t/b from the SR20 is off a turbo motor or not? I read on here the turbo's use a two wire setup and the NA a three wire setup. Thanks for the info nismopick
