Fuse / Electrical problems
So I don't know what's going on so maybe you guys could help.
My gauge cluster and all of gauges will not light up when the headlights are on.
My dome light and radio lights still work.
Also as of yesterday my rear lights don't come on when my headlights are on, BUT my brake lights when applied STILL WORK.
I am not that great with electrical so I could use some help!
Thanks!

I had a simirlar problem, headlights and break lights would work, but the dash and marker lights wouldn't work.
I traced it to the black connection under the steering column. It's a two row connector with quite a few wires in it... I wish I could give a better description on what it looked like.
I unplugged it, cleaned the connection with some electrical contact cleaner spray and plugged it back in and no more problems... so far.

I know what the problem could be as my wifes 1983 280zx 2 seater N/A/ has major issues with the turn singal lights on switch located on the left side of the steering wheel " listen carefully " Please unbolt the houseing onto the sterring wheel to gain loxer acess to the " turn signal lights on switch " there is a " harness " conneted to that switch slowly carefully pull it off " If it was like my wifes 83 it was burnt or possalbe melted togethor terrable mess . I do belive it was melted beacuse she alwasy left the " Dimmer light switch turned all the way up. " Shes a blind old BAT " lol check to see if thats your problem.
1. take off steering cover houseing should be like 6 or 7 screws.
2 check the turn single switch " lights on switch is conneted to it.
3. inspect the " harness " conneted to the back of this swtich
4 check your BUS fuses.
5: Problem your harness is melted to the turn signal " buy used parts from the junk yard.

Sounds like maybe your combo switch is starting to go bad, or has a bad connection like previously stated. If it's just the gauges that are going dim, check the harness for the dimmer switch as corrosion there can make the lights not work.
