Headers and exhaust Input
Hi got an 81 280zx and i want to put some performance headers and exhaust.
i saw the Pacesetter headers and dual tip exhaust. but i do not now how good they are. dont want to spend to much either.
i want to replace all the piping to but dont know good size to put i defin. want to keep my cat.
i want to have a good deep throaty sound from the exhaust. not a loud screeching that sounds like im hauling A** at 20mph
Any im input would be great or ideas with products you guys have used and would like to share wat you liked and didnt like. thanks

i have the 321 header, but have 2.5" collector and 2.5" all the way back. i just got the kit from msa, was the easiest way so you dont have to pay an exhaust shop 500 bux. i dont have the cat in, but it really makes the exhaust quieter. if you run just the cat it will be very raspy. if you dont have any other power upgrades, i wouldnt bother yet, kinda is a waste of hard earned cash. do a muffler, cold air intake, and coil upgrade. start there and youll get more power, better mileage and a loud exhaust all for less.

what type of exhaust and coil do u recommend ( i do have a MSD coil already in it got at autozone was like 30 or 40 bucks i think) . i live in el paso tx and cold air intakes are kinda a waste hear i think way to hot all the time. maybe a ram air would be better.
i also kinda have an exhaust leek on the header gasket kinda a reason y i wanted to do the header upgrade and all the exhaust. but its nothing major.
thanks for the input guys very much appreciated. KEEP IT COMING!!

hmmm never thought of that nismo...it makes sense now lol....but for the remark "definiation time lets all sit around" ....A cold air intake is a device used to bring lower temperature air into a car's internal-combustion engine, to increase engine power and efficiency.
Standard air intake systems tend to be very restrictive, in order to eliminate engine noise. Aftermarket cold air intake systems come in many different colors and sizes, and are easy to install when compared with other performance-increasing modifications. All cold air intakes operate on the principle of increasing the amount of oxygen available for combustion with fuel. Because cooler air has a higher density (greater mass per unit volume), cold air intakes generally work by introducing cooler air from outside the hot engine bay. However, the term "cold air intake" is often used to describe other methods of increasing oxygen to an engine, which may even increase the temperature of the air coming into an engine.

the cold air induction kit from MSA is probably the best 140 bucks ive spent on my 280zx
the cold air kit sits the intake out in front of the ratiator in the spot where most aftermarket air dams are completly open allowing you L28 to breathe thus it is baisicly ram air induction
it looks like its off to the pass. side but thats just the angle of the pic it sits dead center & less than 18" off the ground
BTW thats not my car but that is however the same intake kit
