Headlights do what they want...
just got the car and new to the Z world, my headlights just comeone when they want. i seen all the post about the switch being burnt up and mine is. it also gets very hot. i am disconnecting it during the day and only using it at night hooked up. i want to wire up a switch and bypass that one. i can not find anywhere that anyone did that. i see about adding relays but i just want to bypass that all together and add my own switches. any help would have many thanks.

You can bypass the switch if you want. I would run it through a relay though. You will burn up more switches if you don't, and your headlights will probably be dimm. That is a good load you are running with 55w headlights, and all the tail lights.
What help do you need?
Wiring schematics?
What year car is this?
I had to custom wire my entire car because the PO cut everything out with wire cutters. Headlights to tail lights. Only wires in the car that were not cut were the spark plug wires. haha
Could you be more specific on what help you need?

I want to make one switch that has 3 positions (Off, Parking Lights, Driving light) if possible, then maybe one other switch for High beams. Open for any ideas. diagrams would be awesome along with parts list. i just need to get rid of that fire hazard waiting to happen

You can buy switches. Summitracing.com
Part # PRF-80152
Here are wiring diagrams. I think it should be close to your car. But, the colors may not be correct.

If not, then you can download a complete manual wich I beleive has it from here.

You can buy the OEM switch from MSA, but it looks like they are pretty expensive...

There is dirt within the switch/turn signal housing. I had the same problem with mine, all you need to do is clean it out

If you keep them clean to begin with, there will hardly ever be a problem.
But, when there is dirt, there is less contact area, and when you have less contact, there is increased resistance. With the increased resistance, there will be more heat created, and damage will start. The contact areas will burn away making it worse and worse, to the point of no repair.
