As long as the pipes have the rib (non-technical term) on the end, they won't blow off if they are tight. My first IC piping was made of exhaust pipe and sewer couplers... above 10psi one long section coupled together would always blow loose... I changed that pretty quick.
I can only find the "non-ribbed" universal intercooler piping and i don't trust ebay anymore...been ripped off too many times by poorly made parts

Federal Hose holds freaking tight.
I bought all mine from a local hose shop ( EVCO House of Hose ... that's "hose" not "hoes" ) for about $1.50 to $3.00 per foot. Most silicone IC couplers will hold tight though even w/o a ribbed pipe end.
