Just bought myself an 83' 280zx turbo ttop.

Hello everyone! Im a new proud owner of a 1983 datsun 280zx turbo ttop in silver color. Saw my coworkers 82 and instantly fell in love.. Searched for a week and here I am with my very own. It has 173k miles on it. Bought it from a 70 year old dude that bought it when it first came out. Normal wear n tear. Body is in good condition. Minor dings here n there. I consider myself an amateur enthusiast so please bare with me. I currently Drive a Mitsubishi evo 9 midly modded to 352 whp.

Here are the questions I have ; How much of a gain would adding an intercooler help and is it a direct bolt on? Will I need any sort of tuning to run one?

With my evo, A simple tune netted me huge gains stock. Is there something similar for my 280? Im not expecting huge gains on an older car.

Whats the best site I can buy parts from?

I am gonna use it as my daily driver. Im looking for around 200-250 rwhp, what are the suggested mods?

Anything else I need to know about this car? Thank you.

Is there a Sticky or faq for beginners and new owners?

Welcome to ZDriver!

EVO's are dope! I'm sure it's a fun DD.

Intercoolers don't really "add power". They allow you to safely run higher boost levels (I'm sure you know this with your EVO...). If you want to up the boost, then yes, run an IC and BOV.

We do have a huge FAQ / Gen Tech area:

We also have many threads on how to increase hp / modify the 280zxt L28ET.

Well they kind of do add power in that they decrease the temperature of the air and denser air will make more power since it has more oxygen in it. You're ECU needs to be able to take advantage of that extra oxygen but even without the brains it should still be noticable. That's as long as you're not wasting the extra you are making with poor intercooler routing, too big of an intercooler (eg pressure drop), etc....
