Max Boost

Fellow Z buffs,

Just wondering if anyone knows what max boost psi would be for an L28 Turbo engine with a modified fuel system and T60-1 turbo, Haltech engine management.

If you need additional information on the set up, reply and I'll answer as best as I can.

Thanks.

My advice, start slowly and cautiosly. Try like 6-7 pounds first and work on the tune, then when you get that dialed in turn up the pressure slowly and re-tune.

The factory head and block have been known to dyno at about 350 wheel horsepower before. Usually it is said to keep it at 300 or less with stock pistons. I believe that is around 18-20psi

But I don't know the details on that engine setup. That may require an aftermarket metal head gasket, and of course a large intercooler. You might want direct ignition (aftermarket ignition system) in addition to your fuel system. You basically need to keep your engine from pre-ignition or detonation and the higher the boost levels the more prone to detonation you get.

A lot of people run 12-15 psi with all factory equipment with only the addition of an intercooler, and have minimal problems.
