Megasquirt Thread!!!

sooooo, this is our zdriver megasquirt thread since i am buying it... i was trying to get complete ones on ebay but they end up going WAY to close to retail price, so i was looking at pictures on the KIT and noticed for about 345 dollars i can build MSnS version 2 PCB3.3 or w/e the most recent version is that lets you control spark as well as fuel since i am going ford EDIS system.... and so i thought my adventures could be shared through here as well as others. NOW, my first question is, i am a good solder'er and so i feel compitent enough to make my own, im curious as to any one with experience building MS if its as straight forward as it seems. such as the resistors, transistors, chips, processor, ETC... are all labeled and then fit over their corrisponding outline and label on the processor boards.... thats what it seems like so its almost a no thought process assembling it and you could get it done in a few hours if your patient enough... i just want some insight on that before i jump *** first into something i was totally wrong about.

ok..... well now im a little confused on the difference between MSnS and MSII because i thought megasquirt II was teh only one that could control spark/timing especially on a EDIS system but then i noticed that megasquirt with and upgrade (megasquirt n spark) you can do this on normal megasquirt.... soooo whats the big deal of MSII

Greater precision. Faster processor and a larger A/F map matrix.

ic.... i thought something around that, i knew the faster processor but not the other ones, is it worth the extra money do you think? and yeah any build one? lol, just want to know if its as straight forward as im thinking it seems to be... (talking about teh kit as in soldering the boards type of building not building it like hooking up sensors lol)

I personally bought my board preassembled but after messing around with it, as long as you have some basic soldering skills it seems building one wouldnt be a big deal at all. And I went with MSnS with the extra code because at the time no one had really tried running MSII. I havent been on any of the Z forums lately but after taking a quick look at HybridZ it seems like theres a bunch of info on MSII now. good luck with whatever you do

wich would you rather replace, relays or a wiring harness? the relay doesnt replace any switches.

Since my car was already fuel injected I didnt see any point in using a relay board, but its up to you

got my 36-1 edis trigger wheel today, looks just like the one that supposedly will just "bolt right to" the damper pulley, so we will see in do time, like tonight or tommorow....

decided, is there any other way!!!! lol, yeah wiring the edis seems pretty damn simple and its on teh MS website i believe how to do it, ill just have to look on hybridz for more L series related install write up, finding the wheel i want and aquiring it was the hardest part of it, i lost the bid but then BOOM i got a second chance notice on teh only wheel i say that matched the thread veyenel posted up so i was ecstatic about that. got it 3 days later, sooo fast and such. but the thing is its a ford edis but i want to run a GM coil pack arrangement since it looks soo much cleaner. here is the difference and youll see what i mean
Ford:

GM:

sorry for the such small pictures it was teh best i could do.... i only hope i can use different coil packs cause i HATE that ford one....ill have to hide it if i end up using it.
