msa performance exhaust for 280zx

Need a new muffler. Mine has a crack in it. So, today I ordered the msa perfromance exhaust. It has a thrush muffler and the pipe gets connected just after the cat converter. The diamiter is 2.5" V.S. 2" + a liitle for the stock pipe. The new pipe also takes out alot of the turns and jigs that the stock pipe has, give the exhaust gas a straighter exit path.

Hope I didn't make a mistake here. I don't like to spend $$$ then have to spend more $$$ to fix it again..

Check it out

Are you going to install it yourself?

I don't think so. May take it to the muffler shop. Why do you ask? Seems as if it may be easy enough to install?

+$100 for a shop to install it (unless you have someone who will work for free). So $230 for an MSA kit... or for that same price you could prolly get a custom exhaust made. Either way....

For the most part it is simple enough to install by yourself. Though, if it were me, I would lightly clamp them all in place, tack weld it, drop it, and zap it all the way around the joints for a real connection.

Hmmmm, custom.

Since I already ordered the msa I'll just go with that. You hit the nail on the head, the shop said $100.00 to install. I will ask them to do the welding.

Thank you Nismo.

I got that kit (2.5inch) for my 240 and really like it. It installs really easily. The only problem I had was the final piece where the muffler connects, it was slightly off align with the rear fender. I got that fixed at a muffler shop for like $60 and it included a chrome tip and welding of the muffler to the piping with a couple brackets. Came out nice

Did you get the turbo muffler?, It has a nice tone to it...

Bouncy, Bouncy.

Don't run with those things, you could poke your eye out.

You should check your springs - or not!!!! lol

Yes, the muffler is the turbo.

Glad to hear it worked for you.
