Need Help!!!!
i know a little about cars but im no mechanic... i recently bought a 1981 280zx t-top without the turbo... i think a little water got into the air intake... but the engine still turned. i drove it home but if i ever went over 2000 rpms it would clunk(like i was about to stall) and drop back down to 1500 i asked a friend and he said just let it sit and let the water evaporate... but i wanted a secont opinion on what to do

I've read several times in these forums of this problem and if I remember correctly it is from water getting on some of the sensors and letting them dry is the best bet.
Let me try and see if I can help find that thread

Pull the distributor cap, wiggle the distributor shaft, any more than a few thousandths play, replace the whole distributor, cap, rotor. Also get a noid light and make sure you have power to all injectors. Best bet is to replace every elec connector under on the motor with new. check the plugs, wires, and cap/rotor as well any discoloration/hair on the cap/rotor its junk.

You can also use that electrical connector cleaner, it dries super fast. This would probably only help if they were corroded after they got wet, anyway, just throwing in my two cents.

If you haven't found a solution to this problem yet there's several things you need to check. The TVS (Throttle Vane Switch) on the throttle body is more likely your problem. Pull the cover off it, check it for corrosion and adjustment. Next you'll need to check your plugs and make sure they're not fouled. If they are take a propane torch and clean them up. You might want to go through the EFI Bible and do the troubleshooting checks.
