Need help with thermo sensors!!

I need help guys!!! I have a 1979 280zx standard model. One of my sensors are broken. My mechanic thinks that it is the thermo time switch but every one I've seen on the net looks different than the one on the car now. The ones I see have the plug on them and I need one with a pig tail on it. There are three sensors on mine and the other two look just like the thermo time switches that I've seen on the net. Am I looking for the correct sensor or is there another one that I don't know about, I know there is a water temp sensor and A thermo time but then what is the third and what is the one that sould have the pig tail???? Please help guys

Where is the sensor you are talking about located? Just curious.

Directly in to the thermostat housing. the part I need is one of those sensors. On all the ones I've seen have a single green wire coming from them, any ideas on which sensor this is. Without it my car sits!!!

My guess is as good as yours. Pull the sensor and go into autozone and have them match it up. If not, check a Haynes manual for a wiring diagram and check the wire colors to see what the sensor actually is.

I've done all that and still no luck. Even the dealership coulden't tell me (they suck anyway, If its not on a computer there lost!) I went to the shop to have another look and from what I could tell there were four sensors coming out of the thermostat housing, the thermo time switch, water temp sensor, water temp sender and the last one is the one with the single green wire coming from it, the one that isn't in any book, computer, or anything else for that matter. I hope that someone out there can figure this one out. I live in a small town I not many people here know anything about the Z.

I have an '82, and when I bought pigtails for my injectors from AutoZone, I noticed they looked a lot like the other pigtails on the car, so I bought a few more and replaced them all and everthing has been working fine since. I think they were $3.99 each. Hope that's what you were talking about. And yes, these have two leads instead of one...

PS: Are you looking for one with just one lead???

yea the sensor that is broken has a single green wire coming form it. I've see the same sensor on many turbo models but have yet to find one intact on a N/A model but thanks anyway.
