Okay the guy I emailed the other day got back to me. He was asking me about numbers for telling the difference between a digital and analog dash harness. He told me he has several lying around in boxes. And doesn't really know the difference between them. Whether they are digital or analog harnesses.

Hopefully it makes sense for all of you. I could really use your help on this. I don't want to take apart my daily driver just to see what the numbers are. And I would like the info out of a '83 280zx n/a. An '82 would be allright too. But anything older than that, I don't think is the same. I know they added more options on the '82-'83 models. Opposed to the older years. Also I need the info for a GL model.

Well hopefully you guys can make heads or tails out of this. I would really appreciate any information you all can find for me. That would be great. This is new to me, and I hope in the end. I can get the wiring harness I need to swap to analog gauges.

what one are you installing the 80mph or the 120??

 

The 130 technically, of course, I eliminated all the 80 speedos. I can cruise at that speed easily. And I have broken a 80 speedo, at 5300rpm in 5th.

Also this other guy got back to me on the harness. He said I shouldn't need to swap out the harness to do the analog setup. He told me it should work fine. I hope he is right, because I will swap them out this weekend. And he is a Z expert. www.zcarsource.com. They are huge company, here in Phoenix. That all they specialize in is Z cars from '70-'89. 240z's-300zx Z31's.

Okay just got done, taking out my digital cluster out of my '83. I definately need another harness. The only things that match are the big white plug, and the speedo cable. Everything else is totally different. I will post on the wanted section also.

 

yeah i was going to tell ya i have a harness, but i stripped all the wires i didn't use. so now it just runs the gauges...but if thats all you need then...

actually just thought aboot it, and i'm going to need to use ike half of it...my bad Wild, didn't mean to give your hopes up.

Jeez they updated that site like crazy, I plan on spending $$$ with them in the near future. Although I just called, and I winced at the price of a refurbished dashboard....1200 bucks.
