Newbie, Header question...

Hi there,

I'm new here, good to see others that are enthusiastic about Zcars! I picked up a 1980 280zx (non turbo) for pocket change. I love the way it takes corners. The motor seems strong, but I don't know how many miles it has on it. I've been getting parts for it on ebay and it's starting to look pretty good now. All it really needs is paint. I would like to increase the engine performance with a cold air intake and a header. I noticed that most headers that I look up on the web, like pacesetter have a note: "ROUND PORT HEAD ONLY". Are the exhaust ports on my stocker head round? Are there any suggestions on a good place to get a header? Thanks for any help, I'll be reading posts here often.

I think the nonturbo head (P79?) has round ports, the turbo head (P90) has square ports ... that should be how it goes ... hope that helps.

I guess I have the P79 stock head. How can I tell, is it marked anywhere?

Actually your 1980 head will be the last year of the N42 head, but that head also has round ports.

All of the straight six heads are marked between spark plugs 1 and 2, but down at the bottom edge of the head.
