all the belts look fine to me, i have spares of all of them so i am going to change them tomorrow but i think the problem may be my fan clutch the noise is off and on (more often when car has been running for along time) and when it is making the nosie and the car is turned off the fan is veyr hard to spin but if the car is off and it has not been making the noise then the fan spins farly easy

Usually when the fan clutch is bad, it will cause the fan to not work properly, resulting in the coolant getting too hot. Are you having any problems with overheating . . . temp. gauge rising even slightly above normal?

It really sounds to me that the belt might just need to be dressed and/or adjusted. How long have you had the car? Does the belt appear to be fairly new? Is it an aftermarket belt or OEM?
One way to tell whether the fan clutch is going bad is to run the engine for a while (at least 15 mins., to let it warm up), then turn on the A/C while the car is just idling (sitting still). If the temp. gauge rises above normal (over halfway), then the problem might be the fan clutch.

fans
Just because the temp dont rise dont mean the fan is good. I have seen many stay engaged all the time. So when they do temp will not rise because fan stays engaged. Mine did on my 83, drove me nuts cause all you heard was fan noise.............

I was getting a similar sound in my 79 280. My tensioner berrings were shot... I found a set on ebay that were in great condition... no more sounds. try spraying them with wd40 and see if it at least quiets them down. see if thats the problem before you go looking for new ones... when you have your belts off, try turning them by hand
