piston direction in block on crank

I took the pistons out of one of my old z engines a long time ago, and didn't think to see wich side of the engin the piston numbers were on. the rods are not offset so the only thing that would matter I guess is the oil holes, and I don't want to mess with that. so what I am henting at is dose any one know off hand which side the piston numbers go on.
intake and exhaust, or the other side?

There should be a notch to indicated which direction the pistons should face. I can't remember how they go off the top of my head.
