PLEASE HELP!! engine stalls on boost
82 280ZX Turbo. My cousin had the car and the turbo started blowing oil out the exhaust but it ran like a bat out of hell. He parked it in Febuary. I bought the car 2 weeks ago. I put a brand new turbo on it and the when the damn thing hits 1 lb. of boost it just falls on its face and starts backfiring. I have done everything. If someone could help me please do. i would really appreciate it.

ok here goes. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, tried plug gaps starting at 50, 40, 35, 30, 25, now back on 30. fuel pump, filter, took off tubing going to and from the turbo to make sure no cracks or leaks, even put a couple of new clamps on. replaced all the vacuum lines. turned the fuel damper under the car up a little bit...

yeah a little oil did get in the intake tube leading to the throttle chamer. so the pcv could be stopped up. well the reason i dont think its injector seals is that the car ran perfect before that turbo started blowing oil. Then when i got the new turbo on it. it wouldnt crank for **** till i started running brake cleaner through it then it finally crank.

it doesnt have to be very simple, and dont throw out the injector idea because it ran good 3 months ago or w.e. some cars ran great a day ago and then something with the injectors can go wrong...hey....all you can do is go downt eh list of all suspected problems eliminating them one by one....or take the fast way out and drop it at a shop that KNOWS Z's.....but thats last resort....

re-tighten each hose clamp on all the rubber hoses on top of the intake manifold. Just a little though, you don't want to strip the clamp.
replace those injector o-rings that go where they seal against the intake manifold.

Are you sure you got all the manifold bolts tightened down? Make sure all the bolts are tight and make sure anything bolted to the intake manifold (and could be a possible source of a leak) is nice and tight. Triple check that all hoses, including the intake hoses to and from the turbo in properly in place and tightened securely.

ok i think its in the spark. I got out there tonight and ran the car some. When you rev it up the lights get dimmer. Arent they suppose to get brighter or at least stay the same. I think its losing power somehow and not letting the dizzy work like its suppose to. What about that? any suggestions

It could be the alternator belt slipping when you rev the engine. That or it's possible the alternator isnt charging properly (from either a faulty alternator or just a bad connection somewhere). That would only explain the lighting issue though and wouldn't explain the boost problem.
Have you checked your timing? Whats it at?

lol. yeah no **** it was that ragedy *** coil from auto zone. hell i have been driving around in it all evening and very much enjoying it. now i move on to fix exhaust leaks and get that boost between 10 and 15. hehe. i got a mustang cobra convertible too. there is just something about that little turbo car that i love.

What coil did you finally settle with to make it work...I know the old school big, square, yellow, Accel super coil works very well on my N/A, so well in fact it burnt my coil wire and I couldn't start my car....now I have 7mm wires all around.
