power locks on a 79?

Hey guys, i was wondering how i might go about trying to put power locks in my 79, since they didnt come with it. Do you guys think i can bring it somewhere to do it? I live in the bay area, and maybe you guys can give me a suggestion.
I want power locks because i want to get an alarm, and i want the doors to be able to lock and unlock. However as of now, my passanger door dosent even open with a key from the outside, i have to open it from the inside. ANY IDEAS? And how much would a new lock set cost?

Thanx in advance!

power door locks will run you about $45 each.. when you buy your alarm you can also buy the door lock solinoids with them.. i installed my alarm myself and its not that hard to install the power door lock solinoinds.. so im sure they can install them for you..

Actually, if you have the solinoids installed with your alarm you'll have better power locks than OEM Nissan locks. The later 280ZX like mine really only have the passenger door as a power lock. When I manually lock or unlock my driver's door, the passenger door does the same. If I put an alarm with keyless entry on my car, I would still have to install a driver's door solinoid to make use of it.

I did buy some solinoids though. A while back some guy on eBay had a ton of them and was selling them for $5 each. They appear to be good mechanisms. Maybe there are some on eBay still.

I was in the same situation, my key would not open the passenger side. But i got a viper alarm intalled at best buy. I'm pretty satisfied with it.

If you put aftermarket power locks on both doors, will the passenger door still unlock when you manually unlock the driver door?

In the Z32, to add an alarm and have it unlock both doors you only need to add a power actuator to the drivers door. If the older Z is the same, when you unlock the driver door with your key or with the remote the factory hardware should still trip the switch activating the passenger door.

I was thinking of doing the same thing on my 83 maxima. On the drivers side , insted of an acuator there is a switch. (it looks like an acuator) If I push down the lock on any of the other doors the car does not lock. By adding a factory acuator from a different door I think you would still need to get power to it.
Cheers

Yes of course. If you have the later model with power locks, then all you need is a driver's side power solinoid added.

Yes, they are the same but only for the 1981+ models that actually had power locks. All '79 models had manual locks as far as I know.
