runs very rough
car overheated then stoped running, so i towed it off of the road and checked the plugs for a blown head gasket but no fluid was in the cylinders. I replaced the old plugs and wires that broke when I pulled them out. I can get the car to run but it is very rough and leavs a cloud of smoke behind it. did I blow some piston rings or something or could something have seezed?

It's probably something far less dramatic than a blown head gasket or a smoked piston.
It's probably something far more minor like the plug coming off the bottom of the AFM or a bad connection somewhere.
Start with the basics like that. Check all the electrical connections. Make sure they are all clean, dry and not corroded.
Rod.

Make sure you have the right gap on your spark plugs that you put in. they don't usally come pre gaped, and if they do you can't trust that the box has never been droped, changing the gap. sounds like a rich condition that could have somthing to do with afm, or a week spark, or somthing like that.
