I copied you Bleach and also got the fleebay special shifter. Did you get an increase in road noise? I'm going to address that this weekend to see what I can do about the road noise coming into my Z. I do love how the shifter sits lower now though. That Cobra shifter was killing me! Oh, and the throws are a lot shorter too, which is nice.

for my test drive I had no center console, just a hole in the floor. yes the road noise was much louder!

I'm going to cover it up later. I don't drive that Z yet. Its licensed but not insured.

Oh ok! Yeah just a heads up that for me it's loud in the car now. Not as loud as the 510, but pretty friggin close. This weekend I'm going to modify that rubber isolator to fit around the base of the shifter, and use part of the rubber from the old Cobra shifter to cut out some of the noise. When is your 280 going to be legal?

did you manage to re-install the factory rubber dewy that has the small hole in it, if not then thats where the noise is coming from.

Are you talking about the rubber mat looking thing? I need to cut it a bit to fit around the base of the shifter so it will sit right. The short shifter's base is larger than the stock shifter's, so right now the mat isn't sitting as flush as it should be. That will get addressed this weekend with the other work I have to do.

I'm actually not sure how many CDs the unit holds in the Z I bought recently. I plan to test it, then take it out and sell it. I want an MP3 player and something I can plug my iPod into.

yeah the rubber mat thingy, that what really stops all the noise, the shifter boot is secondary to that as well, both work together to keep noise out. bleach you still got the sub and amp from barney, you need that for your tunes.

lol BARNEY!?

ya, I've got a 10", 12", and a couple amps. I'm planning to go with a single 12 but that's probably one of the last things on my list to do.

Yeah I got the shifter rubber boot thingy trimmed to fit, and it does help a lot. I may go to the junkyard to put another one over this one to seal out more of the noise haha. The only thing I notice now are slight buzzing sounds every now and then when cruising at low rpm around town. It's not too bad, but it does get annoying after a while sometimes.
