Spark plug cross-reference...

I was wanting to get some good high quality sparkplugs for my car, but I am going to be replacing my L28 with an RB20 soon. I discovered that there is very little difference in the sparkplug for the two. The L28 calls for a BPR6EIX-11, and the RB20 wants a BCPR6EIX-11. As per the chart here the only difference in these two plugs is 'Hex size 5/8"'. I haven't measured our spark plugs, but I've been told that the head on them is 5/8" as well.

Are these identical spark plugs with different numbers? Could I use the BCPR6EIX-11 in my L28?

Thanks, rxKaffee

Not sure about the IX but I did find the slightly split electrode spark plug that many auto parts stores now claim is the supercession to the bpr6es11 was far less resistant to melting off the tip upon extreme usage.

Either way, I am still a huge fan of the "EV" series of ngk plugs which are near impossible to find now.......at least they were where I looked.

The letter C just stands for the smaller hex size though the plug is otherwise identical.

Excelent, so the BCPR's should work just fine where BPR is called for.

Do you know the "normal" hex head size for the BPR?

Yes, they are exactly the same plug with the exception of the hex size. I have used both. At one point, I wound up with 5 and 1 somehow and there was no issue.

Rod.
