ouch i feel the pain, its a rio aint it. ive drivin one of those, they suck goat *****. ooh one neat thing about them, the little spring in the door tends to break and the door wont unlock or open from either side, so you gotta crawl out the window or other side, its fun to fix, believe me, our shop got one like that, and im the door guy . they do great ebrake slide too.

Rod, ****, If you are really desperate, take a day trip here, I still have the 79 laying in the garage, Bring a truck and I'll pull the motor and trans for you. Hell, I'll even throw in the drive shaft and rear axle if you want. You can have spares for everything from front hubs to the diffy. Doors to the hatch. You can also have a 70 something 240 motor with a 4 speed manual.

Well, the tranny guy called me...
Not good, not good at all. I broke the main gear and the secondary and bent the shaft. I guess the rear bearing broke first. It's pretty much FUBAR.
We are back to looking for a replacement tranny before Friday.
I might miss MSA for the second straight year due to an unforseen mechanical failure.
Damn it!
Rod.

ouch. that sucks man. hopefully you can get your hands on a tranny before the show. haha, you know, i think you should quit planning on going to the MSA shows. seems that when you plan on going is when your car starts acting up. just dont go to the MSA shows and your car will never break down again

RIGHT ON rod and lost vegaz!!!! i knew you would get that baby going before the show. 700 miles eh?? well, in the z that would be no problem, but a KIA rio...... ugh, i did a 150 mile trip in the back of one of those and it sucked. we had to go through some mountains and the damn thing hardly had the guts to make it up. floored it barely made 50mph uphill. truly a worthless car.

It's all about the MPG these days! A lil KIA floored up a hill is still prolly gettin ~25mpg. A tranny in the back tho... that's half the weight of the car right there!

All right sports fans. Rod and the Kia, made it here. Fisished pullin the trans and loaded him up. He left about 6:30 pm ish. Talked to him about 9 something and he is haulin a$$ back to San Diego. Last time I talked to him he had the Kia floored, doing a whoopin 65 MPH. Everyone wish him luck. He is a dedicated man, Going 700 Miles, just to get his car to the MSA show....

Go Rod! GO! Get out and pedal that damn Kia if you have too!
Now, I'm feelin' guilty about considering not going to the show! My ZXT isn't anywhere near ready, but my 240Z is a driver, but I'm a little nervous about 3rd gear...
I'm considering two options at this point, caravan down 101 w/Apollo on Friday morning or wait until Saturday morning and go down with a friend and his Georgia green RBT240Z and hit the Slovang Datsun Roadster show on the way...
hmmm...
P.S.
Vegaz, you are a stand up dude man. When you get your next Z car, let me know and I'll send you those mirrors for it.

Ah jeez! All these last minute hicups and second thoughts . . .
Since my GF is coming this time shes hinting to the fact that she watns to take her, dare i say, honda because she wants a more reliable way home. I told her its all part of the excitement and character of a 25 year old car but im not sure i'll be taking my Z either. . .or maybe i'll just leave her?
