Tranny swap.

I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseum, but I still can't figure it out. Maybe it's just late and I'm too tired to think right.

I want to go auto to manual. I'd like to have a T5, so does that mean I can take one off any car in the Junkyard, or do I need to get one off a z-car? Obviously I need other crap too.

basically i'm asking if a T5 is a T5 is a T5.

thanks.

Yup a T5 is a T5. Otherwise it would be something else. You can take a T5 off any car in the junk yard. You can also take wheels off, hoods, doors, etc. In fact I think they want you to take stuff off the cars there. Other crap is good especially if you are fertilizing the garden, etc...

Ohhh wait. You want to know if you can take a T5 from say a Mustang and fit it onto a Datsun. No. Different bell housing.

Why do you want a T5? It's not any better than the stock tranny and if anything it's more "clunky".

Also, the n/a trans and driveshafts are much more available than the T5.

The T5 was only an option on the 280zx turbo models...
